(The Platinum Weekly will post an update of this article on Facebook as soon as SAPS confirms more details with us)

Rustenburg – An unspecified number of suspects linked to an armed robbery in Zeerust on Wednesday 6 April has been taken in for questioning by the police.

This was after social media went abuzz with reports of the N4 between Moedwil and Shylock being closed off for a short period of time.

Apparently, the suspects fled Zeerust in two cars... When the road was blocked, one of the two vehicles was pulled over and the suspects were arrested. The suspects in the other vehicle reportedly ditched the vehicle and fled on foot.

According to social media buzz, the cash and guns were found in the abandoned car.
Details related to the armed robbery and recovery of the car were sketchy at the time of going to print.

Said police spokesperson captain Aafje Bothma: “At this stage, I can confirm the armed robbery. Two victims were allegedly robbed of an amount of money. Any further information will only be available tomorrow as police are still busy with further investigations.”

Bothma confirmed that some suspects linked to the heist had been taken in for questioning by the police.  “We are still busy with the interrogation, and we will comment as soon as the suspects have been charged,” Bothma concluded.
